- On December 6 2000 we received the most devastating news a family can hear. Marty, beloved son,brother,husband - my dear cousin had been shot and killed. The newspaper article read "Our Son, Murdered for A Joy Ride" Six hours after Marty was slain police spotted his stolen car and apprehended 17 year old Derick Ford already in violation of a custody order, already a convicted felon. He is now serving a life sentence without parole. "It's a sad story, like so many I know"

Me too Fonda I had a beautiful Cousin
who was murdered at 26 in MN.
A few years ago they finally solved her murder after 27 years. She was his first murder (he was the paper boy who was obsessed with her and he used his fathers gun when she fought him.
In prison many years later for several other murders of young woman he confessed.
Her parents both died young of broken hearts.
so sad and senseless
