Veronica Rutledge, 29, was shot in the head and died instantly after her two-year-old son reached into her purse and got a hold of a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun during a shopping trip in Hayden, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. The Walmart store manager stepped in after the 10:20 a.m. shooting and took the gun away from the child, officials said.

A young Oklahoma mom is dead after her 3-year-old accidentally shot her, KJRH reports. Christa Engles, a 26-year-old from Tulsa, was believed to be changing her 1-year-old daughter's diaper in her living room when police say her preschool son wandered in with a semi-automatic handgun and shot her in the head.

lest we forget...

"On May 4, 1970 the Ohio National Guard opened fire on unarmed students protesting America´s invasion of Cambodia. Four students were killed and nine were wounded. The incident triggered national outrage in a country already divided over the Vietnam War. In the days that followed more than four million students rose up in dissent across 900 campuses, generating the only nationwide student protest in U.S. history.
"The Kent State shootings have never been thoroughly examined and no person or group has been held accountable for wrongdoing. Forty years later, family members of those killed have initiated the Kent State Truth Tribunal to preserve and honor the stories of those whose lives have been touched by this tragedy."http://truthtribunal.org/
