LOWNDES COUNTY- A Lowndes County man is facing a murder charge after
allegedly shooting his girlfriend's four-year-old son with a hunting
rifle.
Patrick Chambers, 27, was taken into custody Tuesday
afternoon for his alleged role in the shooting death of four-year-old
Brayden Barksdale, according to Lowndes County Chief Deputy Marc Miley.
Chambers will officially be charged with murder and possession of a
weapon by a convicted felon on Wednesday, Miley said. Miley did not know
Chamber's prior felony conviction but said it stemmed from an out of
state charge. Chambers is the boyfriend of Barksdale's mother, Amy
Richardson, Miley said.

DETROIT — A 4-year-old boy was fatally shot Thursday
in what police said was a tragic, avoidable accident.
The shooter was the boy's 4-year-old female cousin.

Sgt. Michael Woody, a Detroit police spokesman, said the children were playing in the back bedroom of a home when the girl found a rifle — loaded and not locked in a case — underneath the bed.
He said the girl pointed the gun at her cousin and pulled the trigger, shooting him in the chest.

Veronica Rutledge, 29, was shot in the head and died instantly after her two-year-old son reached into her purse and got a hold of a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun during a shopping trip in Hayden, the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday. The Walmart store manager stepped in after the 10:20 a.m. shooting and took the gun away from the child, officials said.

A young Oklahoma mom is dead after her 3-year-old accidentally shot her, KJRH reports. Christa Engles, a 26-year-old from Tulsa, was believed to be changing her 1-year-old daughter's diaper in her living room when police say her preschool son wandered in with a semi-automatic handgun and shot her in the head.
